“Big things on board,” announced Barcelona on Facebook. “Here is to the new beginning of Barcelona in Bangladesh… get ready for the new opportunities we bring in!”
Barcelona plans to source half of its total denim products from Bangladesh, Apparel Online Bangladesh reported. The business will subsequently increase its denim sourcing in the country and explore knitwear production there as well.
“We are looking for RMG (ready-made garment) manufacturers who can do comparatively small orders and have a strong focus on product development,” Barcelona’s founder Jaimin Gupta told Apparel Online Bangladesh. “We are very quick on payments (three days after delivery) and transparent with our vendors. So we are hopeful that, like in India, we will also have a long-term relationship with the Bangladesh-based vendors.”
Entrepreneur Jaimin Gupta launched Barcelona in Ahmedabad in 2015 as a men’s mid-priced western wear label. The brand now counts over 125 franchise stores across India and has a presence in over 50 cities across the country. Barcelona also plans to launch an initial public offering in the near future, although a date has yet to be set, and will aim to open 100 franchise stores in India in the 2024 calendar year.
