Alex Bain of Coronation Street opened up about mental health issues after becoming a childhood star and teenage dad.

Alex Bain gained fame as a child and admitted to struggling with mental health after becoming a teenage dad.

At age 19, he had his first child, daughter Lydia Rose, at 17, but broke up with the baby’s mother in 2019.

Coronation Street Star Alex (joining the cast of the hit ITV Soap at the age of just seven) opened the door to the “dark times” faced in the spotlight for a decade.

But the teenage star says that his job, family, girlfriend, and two-year-old daughter were his “saviors” through everything.

“I have a wonderful girlfriend Mollie and she has been with me for me. She is a performer because she is struggling too.

“My family was great and they always took care of me. They just said:’You go your own way, don’t listen to what people say, because they’re people who are jealous of what you have.’

“I’ve struggled over the years, but now I think I’m working,” he continued to tell The Sun.

Alex went on to tell the publication about his struggles for not meeting his girlfriend during the best time of the year. “It was difficult. We spent a lot of time away.

“Three-quarters of our relationship would have been spent physically not being able to see each other. It was a tough job, but I have FaceTime and Zoom.”

However, he continues to spend most of his free time with his daughter Lydia during the epidemic. “I and my daughter Lydia watched movies over and over again in our house here. It’s amazing.”
